About Us

Somali Development and Rehabilitation Organization (SDRO) is genuine non-governmental and non-political making humanitarian institution focusing on relief and development programs while dedicated diaspora reacting to their moral obligations on the subject of the miserable state of the society established it in May 1998. The organization has board of trustee of five members: chairman, vice-chairman, secretary and two members.

The persistent civil war, poverty and natural calamities affected Somalia simultaneously. In this critical circumstance of the nation, the organization focuses on following sectors: water, sanitation & hygiene (WASH) and Skill Training (vocational trainings) programs. Thus, SDRO in consideration of that plight is determined firmly to concentrate on these basic urgent problems. The organization supports the worst affected group of the society in target areas.

SDRO worked in several regions of Somalia: Mudug, Banadir and Lower Shabelle regions accomplished projects in different natures in partnership with below listed Partners: SHF/UNOCHA, WFP, UNICEF, IOM, UNHCR, FAO, IRC, NRC, INTERSOS, NIS  FoundationDAI, CARE International, NOVIB, Development Fund (DF), Norway and Somali communities.

  • Positively impact lives of target communities by implementing humanitarian programs in different nature
  • Engage education and skills trainings for less advantaged youth folks in target area
  • Human and livestock health management services
  • Promotion of marine resources and consumption

Strategy

To achieve set up objectives/goals the board of trustee strictly follows: –

  • Based on the provision of services on prioritized needs of the society on the principal of non-partisan-ship.
  • Cooperate national and international organizations with genuine efforts and resources to achieve project activities.
  • Organize their activities in a viable standard that can be self-sustaining even when external inputs are withdrawn.
  • Gives appropriate attention and respect to the customs, national constitution, religion etc. of the concerned parts to avoid tension and confrontation.
  • Sticks to its policies thoroughly on edited principles to avoid confusion or overlaps
